Gastronomy

The Arequipa culinary tradition is one of the most
exquisite in Peru and is characterised by a wide range of dishes, generally
with strong flavoured seasoning and with river shrimpand rocoto (large
green or bell peppers). The visitor can taste these in many restaurants
and in the typical food stall of the region. Many of these restaurants
also offer other dishes which are not from the area itself, but rather
from other regions in Peru.
